Safe Schools Florida Anti-Bullying Initiative on Sexual Minority Issues

Moving beyond tolerance...

Stunning statistics from Safe Schools South Florida. Did you know:

GLBT youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers.

Over 90% of GLBT youth hear anti-gay rhetoric, and a third hear it from school personnel.

25% of GLBT youth are thrown out of their homes when their parents learn they are GLBT.

Over 40% of homeless teens identify themselves as GLBT.

GLBT teens are twice as likely to skip school because of fear.

In a recent study, 30% of GLBT youth said they had dropped out of school because of bullying.

Safe Schools South Florida wants you to move beyond tolerance, toward understanding.
